Travelodge has a target of
32,000 rooms (150 new hotels) by 2010 which will
mean opening a new hotel every eight working days.
By the 2012 Olympics, Travelodge aims to be the
biggest hotel brand in Central London (within the
North and South Circular), with a target of 7,000
rooms in the capital.

Beijing Olympic Games: Most of the work
for the 2008 Olympic Games is now complete with just finishing touches
required. Work on most of the competition venues for the Beijing 2008
Olympic Games is finished with 26 of the 31 Olympic venues in Beijing and 30
of the 45 training venues passing the approval procedure and 22 venues have
already undergone test runs by hosting Good Luck Beijing sport events. The
Shunyi Olympic Park is the world's first venue to manage to be able to stage
flatwater and whitewater kayak events in the same place. Beijing Olympic Games: The Media Village for the 2008
Olympic Games is undergoing final decoration and is due to be complete in
May. The 640,000-sq-m Media Village will accommodate 7,000 journalists. The
village comprises furnished rooms, and include a 24-hour media workroom,
ADSL, 24-hour dining service, newspaper and magazine kiosk, dry cleaning,
post office, and gym. Sited near the Beijyuanlukou North Station of
the Line 5 subway, the complex is northeast of the Olympic Green and the
Olympic Forest Park in the north of the city -- just five km from the Main
Press Centre and two km from the International Broadcast Centre. It will
take just 15 minutes by car to reach the National Stadium
Beijing Olympic Games Olympic souvenirs are proving popular
among local shoppers for family gifts as the end of the year approaches.
London Olympic Games: Demolition work
for the 2012 Olympic Games has passed the halfway stage and contamnated
ground has been cleaned and recycled for use on the site London Olympic Games flag
handover. McFly, Will Young, Scouting for Girls and James Morrison
will headline the performers who will be playing at the Visa London 2012
Party in the Mall to mark the moment when London becomes the official
Olympic City.
Featuring unique collaborations and specially-arranged
performances, the show from the Mall will synchronise with the Beijing 2008
Olympic Closing Ceremony in front of a worldwide audience of an estimated
1.5 billion.
At about 2.30pm on August 24 the Olympic flag will pass
from the Mayor of Beijng to the Mayor of London. About 40,000 [people will
be in the Mall for the concert extravaganza and tickets were oversubscribed.
Giant screens have been set up around the country so others can watch the
event which is also being broadcast live on BBC1 and Radio 2. Te Feeling, Il
Divo and Katherine Jenkins are among other top names signed up to perform.
