The Millennium Stadium is one
of Europe's most modern stadium with almost 75,000 seats and
having a retractable roof. It sits on the banks of the River
Taff, right in the heart of Cardiff city centre.
With 74,600 seats and a retractable roof, the Millennium Stadium
has hosted many top sporting events including FA Cup finals and
the 1999 Rugby World Cup Final.
The stadium was first proposed in 1994 and opened in
time for the 1999 Rugby World Cup. The stadium staged its first
game in June 1999 when Wales beat South Africa 29-19.
It is widely regarded as one of the world's very best and most modern
venues and has hosted concerts, indoor cricket and speedway as well as
football and rugby
It hosted the final of the
1999 Rugby World Cup between Australia and France and while Wembley was
being rebuilt, it also staged football's FA Cup every May.
GETTING THERE
Cardiff Central Railway Station is just 400 yards from the Millennium
Stadium, opposite Cardiff Bus Station.
On major event days Cardiff Central Station can be
extremely busy.
