From the moment you enter the portcullis of Warwick Castle,
beneath the murder holes used to repel invaders in the past,
you can sense that this is no ordinary day out. You can
watch Thomas of Warwick, the castle Bowman, as he displays
his skills with the mighty longbow and see the trebuchet
which was the largest and most formidable of the siege
machines and was, in essence, a huge catapult. The trebuchet
was used to fire huge projectiles to breach the Castle

The town of Warwick was founded on the
banks of the River Avon in 914 AD
and is itself a charming and picturesque town to stroll
around and take in Warwickshire tourist attractions. You can
combine this with a tour of Stratford upon Avon,
Shakespeare's birth place and the home of Stratford Theatre.
